For patients who do not want definitive treatment of their varicose veins they can ease any symptoms by wearing Class 2 compression hosiery. For many the thought of wearing compression hosiery every day is impractical and treatment without surgery is possible with endovenous laser ablation and ultrasound guided sclerotherapy.
Those who have spider veins and wish to prevent deterioration can wear Class 1 compression hosiery. This provides better venous return and takes pressure off the abnormal spider veins. Flight attendants, hairdressers and others in occupations involving prolonged standing will benefit from Class 1 compression hosiery.
Class 1 or 2 compression hosiery are used to prevent DVT (deep vein thrombosis) on long haul flights or long car or train journey's.
