Varicose Eczema

In more severe cases of varicose veins, eczema can develop.  Varicose eczema is a dermatitis specifically associated with varicose veins and will generally appear over part of the varicose veins but can sometimes be more widespread.  The skin will often be intensely itchy and the skin will look red, dry and scaly and can sometimes be excoriated because of scratching.

A study performed at Palm Clinic indicates that around 70% of patients with varicose eczema will have improvement in their eczema on successful treatment of the varicose veins.  This can be achieved non surgically with endovenous laser ablation or ultrasound guided sclerotherapy.
