Most treatments for varicose veins are covered by medical insurance provided there is medical necessity for treatment such as symptoms like aching or the presence of swelling or varicose ulcers or varicose eczema.  It is recommended that you contact your medical insurer for prior approval however that is not necessary for Southern Cross provided your phlebologist is an affiliated provider for Southern Cross.  For a list of affiliated providers refer to www.southerncross.co.nz.  Palm Clinic is an affiliated provider to Southern Cross and is covered by most other insurers such as Tower, Sovereign, Unimed and others.
